Ball In The House

Tim Coons produced their last two albums including their recent hit album Granite Ave.  Ball In The House has become one of the premier a cappella groups in the world performing over 250 shows a year.

Ball in the House is five guys, five voices, that's it. This Boston-based group takes a cappella to the next stage, with vocal drums/beatbox and vocal bass under their pop harmonies to create a sound that's hard to believe. They've been astounding audiences nationally, both with their exciting live show (over 250 a year!) and with their recordings (their own CDs as well as the Cool Whip radio and TV ads). "Jaw-dropping a cappella brilliance, Top 10 song crafting skills, and genius arrangements make Ball in the House one of the best bands around bar none." (Songwriter's Monthly).

Like many bands, Ball in the House started out part-time, meeting a couple times each week to rehearse and then gigging wherever and whenever they could. Early performances were limited to coffee houses and other similar, small venues; but over time their vocal music reached out to and found Boston audiences. People began to embrace the energy and style of the band. Over the course of that next year, Ball in the House expanded by two more singers, bringing the total to five members. That decision resulted in the single most influential and important development in the history of the band. With the group's larger size, a vocal rhythm section materialized when Jon J. put his singing on hold to begin learning a complex series of vocal percussive beatbox sounds, becoming a "human drum machine" that continues to dumbfound audiences today. The true sounds of Ball in the House were beginning to emerge.

Then, in 1997, another pillar of Ball in the House’s unique and incredible sound came into the picture. Jon J., who at one time attended the Boston Boy’s Choir School, ran into an old friend from those younger days and asked him about joining the band. Dave, fifth grade friend of Jon J. and current tenor, came on board and Ball in the House decided it was time to take their combined talents to the next level and become a professional, full-time band. 1997 and 1998 were highlighted by performances at the Apollo Theater in New York, SUNFEST in West Palm Beach, Florida (opening for Paula Cole), and the winning of the 1998 National Harmony Sweepstakes - New England Region.

We well remember Boston-based, 5-man Contemporary a cappella group Ball in the House from their 1998 appearance at the Harmony Sweeps Finals in San Rafael. Since then they have wowing audiences with their dynamic live shows (over 250 a year!) and with excellent recordings ("Granite Ave." is their 4th). 12 cuts, many of them originals written and arranged by the group. Aaron Loveland, Dave Guisti, Jon Ryan, Dan Syzmczak and Tim Foust share credit for the words and music on "Come Back to Me," "Get It Together," "Crawlin' Out From Under," "Trust Me," "Your Love," "Addicted" "What More Do You Need," "Anyway," "Set The Mood," "Heavy On My Mind" and "Let You Lead." The only cover, arranged by the guys is Stevie Wonder's "Superstition," one of the best covers of this classic that we've heard. Strong vocal percussion throughout supplied by Jon. "Granite" shows Ball to be at the top of their game and among the elite Contemporary groups in the world. They are stars as a cappella performers, composers and recording artists, and the world is quickly discovering that!  Go to www.ballinthehouse.com and listen to their music.
